2nd Sunday of Great Lent 2017

2nd Sunday of Great Lent!

Greetings in Christ Jesus,

Sunday March 12th 2017

Proverbs 3

19 The Lord by wisdom has founded the earth, has established the heavens by prudence. 20 By his wisdom the depths have broken out, and the clouds grow thick with dew

21 My son, let not these things depart from your eyes: keep the law and counsel: 22 And there shall be life to your soul, and grace to your mouth. 23 Then shall you walk confidently in your way, and your foot shall not stumble: 24 If you sleep, you shall not fear: you shall rest, and your sleep shall be sweet. 25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, nor of the power of the wicked falling upon you. 26 For the Lord will be at your side, and will keep your foot that you be not taken.

27 Do not withhold him from doing good, who is able: if you are able, do good yourself also. 28 Say not to your friend: Go, and come again: and tomorrow I will give to you: when you can give at present. 29 Practice not evil against your friend, when he has confidence in you. 30 Strive not against a man without cause, when he has done you no evil. 31 Envy not the unjust man, and do not follow his ways: 32 for every mocker is an abomination to the Lord, and his communication is with the simple. 33 Want is from the Lord in the house of the wicked: but the habitations of the just shall be blessed. 34 He shall scorn the scorners, and to the meek he will give grace. 35 The wise shall possess glory: the promotion of fools is disgrace.

My friends,

What are we to say regarding the writings from Holy Scripture that we find here? This scripture speaks of keeping the law and the counsel. Now we know that Jesus the Christ is the fulfillment of the law. With the law fulfilled through Jesus the Christ He became the new law that we are to obey. Remember: if you love me, keep my commandments. We are told here in these proverbs that if we keep the law and the counsel then there shall be life to our soul.  This life to our soul is found in no one else except Jesus the Christ, the fulfillment of the law and the new law that is written on our hearts if we accept this truth.
I hear that many people today are fearful. They are afraid of what may be coming or what they believe is already here. Brothers and sisters; there is nothing to fear, whatever is coming or is already come is nothing more than what is to be. Whatever befalls us whether good or bad, right or wrong, is not to be feared. If we stay close to the Christ Jesus, if we walk with the Spirit, then the Spirit will walk with us. We will be given the strength and the ability to persevere under extraordinary circumstances.
Fear has no place in the Body of Christ. Through Jesus the Christ there is eternal life, whatever we suffer here is but for a moment in time when compared to eternity. Time may seem to be forever while in the flesh until we grow old and then suddenly we find that time has gone by rather quickly. Do not waste a moment of this time; seek truth which is Jesus the Christ. Do not forsake the love for others, do good instead of bad, right instead of wrong, do not hold grudges, be kind to others, help when you are able. Love others.
Take this time now in this second week of Great Lent to strive more to find the gate that is along the straight and narrow path towards eternal life that can only be found through Jesus the Christ who is that gate. Strive I say but be careful of vows. Do not make vows that cannot be held. It is better to not make a vow and struggle along the path than to make a vow and then quit. Do not make vows lightly. The making of vows during this time is done by many but far too many quit the vow in time. We are held accountable for every word that we utter.
Fight your good fight within yourself, conquer your own self with the help of our Lord, it is only when we have conquered our own lusts and unworthy desires can we then begin to see a little more clearer. Keep up the struggle. Get humble before the Lord and remain humble.

In Christ,
