Bishop's Blessing Fifth Sunday of Lent

Bishop’s Blessing
5th Sunday of Lent
Western Church

Bishop's blessing; May the Lord make to arise within you the power of His love, and through the observation of fastings pour forth in you the gift of His blessing. Amen. Thus you offer holocausts of your frugality to Him, so that you are pleasing by your contriteness of heart, and sacrifice of humility. Amen. Thus may your prayer of the fast and alms-giving and other things which are elevated arise unto the ears of your Creator, so that you may be made an inheritor of eternal blessing, and be made to consort with the supernal community. Amen. May He Whose Kingdom and Dominion remain without end, be pleased to sustain us unto ages of ages. Amen. May the blessing of God: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit and the peace of the Lord be ever with you. Amen. +William

First Sunday of Lent Bishop's Blessing

First Sunday of Lent 2020

Bishop's blessing, The first Sunday of Lent; may Almighty God, who consecrated Elias and our Mediator by the fast of forty days of Moses, bless you. And may He grant unto you the dispensation that you go through this present life unto the receiving from the Father of the [heavenly] family the coin of reward of remission of all sins, unto the glorious resurrection with all the saints. Amen. And may He give to you spiritual virtue for victorious defense; as the Lord gave the example of how to be strong enough to conquer thoroughly the most cunning temptations of the ancient enemy. Amen. For not in bread alone, but by every word which proceeds from His mouth, and through the spiritual food of the observation of the fasts and the display of similar good work, may you be worthy to receive the never-withering crown of glory. Amen. May He Whose Kingdom and Dominion remain without end, be pleased to sustain us unto ages of ages. Amen. May the blessing of God: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit and the peace of the Lord be ever with you. Amen. +William
